The winery
The Nani Rizzi estate is located in Valdobbiadene, within the heart of the DOCG region. For over a century descendants of our family of passionate winemakers have been crafting wines using grapes coming exclusively from the hills of Guia di Valdobbiadene, personally managing every stage of winemaking with meticulous care. Heir to this long tradition is Denis Spagnol, who today runs the family business along with his three daughters Giulia, Elena and Silvia. With great enthusiasm and unswerving passion, the new generations continue the work begun by their grandfather Giovanni, known to all as Nani Rizzi, and then continued by Ergi, Denis’s father. Ours is a constant striving for quality. It starts with the precious Glera grapes, coming from the famed breathtaking hills of Valdobbiadene, which we transform into superior-quality wines using just the right blend of tradition and innovation. The result is a wide range of sparkling wines that represent the pride of a historic winery and the extraordinary uniqueness of the land they come from.
Grapes
The blend of grapes, the soul of all wine, the open secret of its perfection. A combination of grapes from a range of varieties which produce very specific organoleptic features. According to the Valdobbiadene DOCG production rules, as for all Veneto Prosecco, Glera must form the basis (85%) but under the regulations other grapes may be used as well (15%). This is why to the two versions of Glera we add Perera, which brings intensity to the bouquet, and Bianchetta which makes for a softer and more refined Prosecco.
Our wines
Nestled within these enchanting hills suffused by beguiling bubbles, we offer you a warm welcome and look forward to sharing the story of our winery – through our wines and through our events. From Brut to Extra Dry, encompassing Superiore di Cartizze to Millesimati, Cuvée Ergi and Still white Nonna Ida, our wines represent our history and the values of our family. And we’re immensely proud to say they’re your guarantee of authenticity and a celebration of a perfect combination of refinement, elegance and balance.
The wine region
The “The Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene” district is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s located in the Veneto, in a small hilly area in the province of Treviso, where a sort of symbiosis between man and the environment has created a unique cultural landscape. The production area of ConeglianoValdobbiadene DOCG is located in the north-eastern reaches of the Veneto Region, about 50 km from Venice and about 100 km from the Dolomites. It stretches between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene and the steepness of the hillsides present real challenges for winemakers. The views of the vineyards, spread out on steep verdant hillsides surrounded by woods (20,000 hectares) make for a truly stunning landscape.
